MADE IN VICENZA | Vicenza White Stone

We’d like to tell you something special about Vicenza, the city where our sweaters are created. As for example, Vicenza White Stone used by the famous architect Andrea Palladio and since 1903 Peotta’s first raw material choice.

Warm and soft like a cashmere sweater, Vicenza White Stone seems more like wooden or leather than marble, because it’s easy to model, and warm to touch. Time will change is shape. The beauty of this Stone is exactly this feature. Peotta family perfectly knows it and has chosen to work with this stone, extracted from the quarries in Vicenza hills, since 1903. Everything began with Gelindo Peotta, afterwards the family took two different paths. Armando founded his own factory, first led by his son Renzo, nowadays by his grandchildren Massimo and Stefania.

What are the teachings of grandfather Armando and father Renzo?

The respect for a well done job, the importance of every single details, the effort to gain customers trust. When it was time to work, dad was a very humble person, always ready to get in tune for customers needs, with no compromise. He never saved himself from work. He used to make us laugh when he said: even if you paid for this stairway, it’s still mine!

What has changed nowadays?

We can’t hide that nowadays our job is more difficult. By the way we don’t want to give up because we have so much respect for who came before us. To go further we decide to close our lab and ask for support to external labs. Because of it we work as certified industry, and thanks to this we work with a trusted team of artisans. In conclusion the soul of our job is still the same of the past.

Can Vicenza White Stone make culture?

Absolutely. Quarry Cice in Zocencedo and quarry Le Priare in Montecchio, both in Vicenza, are a proof of it. They became spaces for cultural events. We actively partecipate with this events, we believe in the beauty of these places and we want to be part of this revival.
